Where There’s A Wine, There’s A Way – Georgia Beattie

Meet Georgia Beattie. Founder of Lupé Wines and Single Serve Packaging, and CEO of Beattie Wines, which produce pre-packed wine in shatterproof glasses for every occasion. This is her entrepreneurial journey.

Where did you get the idea for your business?

The concept for Lupé Wines came to me while I was attending the Laneway Festival in Melbourne!

How did you get your business started?

I wrote a business plan for Lupé Wines through my RMIT Entrepreneurship degree. I then used the business plan to raise seed capital to buy a production line so I could begin manufacturing locally in Melbourne.

What lessons have you learned so far on your business journey?

Being an entrepreneur is a marathon, not a sprint: it’s really important to enjoy the adventure, as I have with Lupé Wines and the ups and downs that come with it. It’s okay to make mistakes. The most important thing is to make them quickly and learn quickly. If you’re not making mistakes, you’re not trying hard enough!

How important for you has it been to have a mentor?

My mentors have changed as I’ve grown as a business person with Lupé Wines. They have been integral.

What are your top three tips for starting a business?

  1. Don’t rush into partnerships – everyone is capable of running a business by themselves like I do with Lupé Wines.
  2. Be a seeker: network, ask questions, read and learn as much as you can.
  3. Keep your mind and body healthy, they’re your greatest assets!
